The young Slovakian Mirka is waiting in Vienna for the British businessman Michael whose wife has an affair with a Brazilian photographer, whos' girlfriend in turn has had enough and is sitting on a plane home. The director Fernando Meirelles combines a modern and dynamic roundelay of stories into one, linking characters from different cities and countries in a vivid, suspenseful and deeply moving tale of love in the 21st century. Desire is the focus, and the realization that the choices we make affect others and ourselves in ways that can not always be foreseen.
