Following the success of Lord of the Rings Peter Jackson turned to Tolkien's The Hobbit. The story is depicted in three films of which the first "Hobbit - an unexpected journey tells the story of how Bilbo sets out to recover the dwarfs kingdom of Erebor that was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. After being persuaded by the Wizard Gandalf the Hobbit joins a group dwarfs. The road to the dwarf kingdom goes through the wilderness where orcs and goblins ravage freely. It is in the dwarves' tunnels that Bilbo meets Gollum for the first time, something that will affect the rest of his life.
