This drama is Oliver Stone's take on the events that led to the CIA-employed whistleblower Edward Snowden becoming one of the world's most wanted men. In 2013 he leaked thousands of classified CIA documents to The Guardian and The Washington Post which revealed that the United States and Great Britain carried out top secret surveillance of individuals, politicians and companies worldwide. He had joined the army when he was 20 and was employed by the CIA at 22. He became a consultant to the National Security Agency at the age of 26 and at the age of 29, he ran for his life and left his country. Jan Söderqvist at Svenska Dagbladet wrote: "It's good-looking, well paced, information rich and condensed."
