Billy Elliot

Over 12Contains violence 110 minutes 2000 7.7

A warm story about the 11-year-old Billy who struggles between his love for dance and what is expected of him. Instead of going to his boxing lesson, coal mining worker son Billy goes to a ballet lesson instead, this is the start of Billy's struggle between his familys hopes and his dream of dancing. "Black coal, white tulle, knuckled fists, elegant curved arms, sadness, beauty, seriousness, humor. British Billy Elliot moves in a world of contrasts where odd pieces are joined to an unusually rich whole." Kristina Torell wrote in Göteborgs-Posten. Jens Peterson at Aftonbladet writes: "A story of dreams and stubbornness about breaking free from your family and the environment." To love people yet dare to leave them." The film was nominated for several BAFTA awards and three Oscars.
