This film is based on William Shakespeare's tragedy about General Macbeth. The Scottish general Macbeth has been obsessed with the idea of becoming the new king of Scotland. His wife, Lady Macbeth, persuades him and before he knows it he is going away to overthrow the current King Duncan. Macbeth was nominated for the Palm d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
