La dolce vita

Over 16 174 minutes 1960 8.0

With masterpieces like La Strada, Fellini 8 1/2 and Amarcord, Federico Fellini is considered one of the biggest Italian filmmakers. La Dolce Vita with Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg in the main roles is, according to Bonnier's major film guide, "one of Fellini's most entertaining and easily accessible movies". The film depicts the mundane life of Rome in the 60's where the gossip journalist Marcello Rubini dreams of becoming a writer but participates in the superficial social life to have something to write about and without being able to break free. La Dolce Vita is perhaps best known for the stage where Anita Ekberg is bathing in Fontana di Trevi. Rubini's photography colleague Paparazzo has also given the name to a whole profession.
