An angel at my table
Janet Frame has all through her childhood had that nagging feeling of not fitting in. Even after she finishes her teaching education she is regarded as a deviation by society. With a low self-esteem, she notes that she receives attention if she shows signs of schizophrenia, leading her to be put in a mental institution – for eight long years. Finally, things turn around as she starts to write novels. An Angel at My Table is based on the three autobiographies written by Frame and won no less than seven awards at the Venice Film Festival.
